A few weeks ago, I got an email from my friend, Jamie. She wanted to know what we had planned for my dad for Fathers’ Day. I said that we hadn’t decided anything. She had found a gift to give her dad and thought it would be fun to send them together.
What she found was a booze cruise. Unfortunately, it was old information, listed in 2009. But, I loved the idea. So we hunted around and found this instead: Summer Beer and Cigar dinner. It is perfect. Our dads and our moms, too, would go to this fancy dinner at the Water Street Inn, on the river, in downtown Stillwater. What’s awesome is that our parents have been friends for longer than our lives, so it is extra special to plan this for them as a group.
My dad was really surprised and, I think, excited. I haven’t yet heard what Frank’s reaction was, but I bet he’s been looking forward to this all week. Tonight is the dinner. I’ll be at graduation, and very excited about it, but tomorrow, I can’t wait to hear all about it.
I think giving a gift of an activity, where you can make memories and spend time with the ones you love best, is one of the sweetest gifts you can give.
Have fun tonight!
