Hey, Hey, It’s My Birthday

It’s the normal human body temperature…in Celsius

It’s the number of plays written by William Shakespeare

It’s the number of weeks Michael Jackson’s album, Thriller, spent at #1 (coincidentally, also the first album I ever owned)

It’s the number of vertebrae of a Tyrannosaurus Rex

It’s the most commonly chosen number between 1-100

If you choose any single digit (1-9) and write it out three times. Say 3. 333, then add the sum of those numbers 3+3+3=9 and take the three digit number 333 and divide by the sum 9 and you get 37. Works for any single digit number.

It’s the age deemed officially too old to work for the FBI (and Homeland Security, and Treasury and the CIA)

It’s the year Amelia Earhart disappeared (1937)

Richard Nixon was the 37th president

Rubidium is the 37th element on the periodic table

It’s the television channel reserved for radio astronomy

In roman numerals it is XXXVII

It is also my age for the next 365 days. Now that my future no longer contains the option of becoming a profiler and working for Hotch, I shall strive to find a way to go on. But so far, 37 hasn’t treated me too poorly. I got a call from about 20 8-year-olds (and one 37-year-old) who sang me happy birthday. It’s not really your birthday until you hear all those tiny voices singing confidently….until they reach your name! But it was a terrific way to start my morning.

In the manner of technicalities, I’m not actually 37 until 5:00pm today. At that exact time, my mother and I will be watching a movie, it starts precisely at 5:00pm. And no birthday of mine is complete without a handsome man, which is why I chose London has Fallen with Gerard Butler and Aaron Eckhart. (Okay, that was mostly because there is nothing else out I’d want to see but I do want popcorn on my birthday). Of course, my favorite handsome man, Christian Kane, has been singing to me since I woke up this morning. Literally my fave CK playlist has been on repeat, nothing better than hearing his voice on my day.

Lastly, I’m treating myself to Jimmy Johns for lunch today. Seems a good way to celebrate. I’m also leaving work early, another good way to celebrate.

Happy Birthday to me, and thank you to all of you who reached out to me on this day.

(gratuitous photo, just because it makes me happy and it’s my day. Also, this was now FIVE years ago)

The Chase

I don’t think at this point it is a surprise to anyone that I love Christian Kane. I think it’s been covered quite handily on this blog-seriously, search his name, it’s almost embarrassing, except I love him, so it’s not.

Therefore, imagine my utter happiness to receive this brand new photo of him, as a text messaging gift via my mother at 6:48pm last night.

I know what you’re thinking. My God, he’s hot. Oh, wait, that’s what *I* was thinking. YOU were probably thinking, “why do I care what time her mom text her?”

Well, because, as it turns out, and I am assuming a bit here, my mom was on Facebook a few minutes prior, saw that photo, thought of me, and text me the photo to brighten my Tuesday night. It did, by the way.

Here’s the cool thing. At that exact same time, way across town, Kelly was getting a pedicure. She was playing online and saw a brand new photo of Christian Kane and, naturally, thought of me. She text me that photo.

Which is how, literally, within seconds of each other, they both text me a photo of Christian Kane. Here is THE VERY BEST PART.

They aren’t the same photo!!!!!!!!

True story. At 6:48 pm last night I received two text messages. Both contained photos of Christian Kane, but they weren’t the same photo. They are obviously from the same photo shoot (I assume a promo for his new show, The Librarians,) but two different, equally awesome pics of my main man, Christian Kane.

How is this possible? I have no idea. I couldn’t believe it when they came in during the same minute. It makes it easy to love technology when things like that happen. Oh, and for the record, I do NOT hate text messaging when it contains photos of Christian Kane. Those are always welcome. Day or night. Even the same minute.

And that is the story of how my mother and Kelly were racing to be the first to send me a picture of my favorite singer….and tied. And I won. Thanks to you both! I lovelovelove them.

P.S. And while it was a fun little coincidence, this is mostly just an excuse to post pictures of Christian Kane and endlessly type Christian Kane. Remember in junior high when you had a crush on a boy and you’d write his name all over your notebook? This is kind of like that, only in the modern technology world. Christian Kane. Christian Kane. Christian Kane. See?

P.P.S Also, the title of this post, The Chase, is also a song title by, you guessed it…Christian Kane.

Keeps Getting Better

Ever have one of those days where little things keep popping up to make you happy and it just seems like it keeps getting better?

Today is one of those days. Blog comments, emails I wasn’t expecting….and, finally, some amazing news.

Christian Kane (if you’ve ever read my blog, surely you must know of my love for all things Christian Kane) is FINALLY returning to television! He’s been cast as one of the leads in a new tv series called The Librarians. It’s based off the movie series of the same name, the ones starring Noah Wylie. Wylie will be in the show, too, along with Rebecca Romijn. But who cares about that? CHRISTIAN KANE is going to be back on my tv!!!

I haven’t seen him in anything since Leverage went off the air on December 25, 2012. He’s made a movie since then, but it is in limited release and, as of yet, has not been released within reasonable driving distance of my home, so I haven’t seen it.

But they called him off the road a few weeks back, from promoting the movie, 50 to 1, because the creators of Leverage wanted him for a new tv show. It’s finally been confirmed that TNT has picked up the show for 10 episodes that will be released, wait for it, in the fall of 2014! That is this year!

Now we just have to hope the show is amazing and gets picked up so I can get my weekly CK fix. I’ll watch it no matter what, that goes without saying, but it’d be nice if it worked out and he had a regular series again. It’s nice for me. And probably him, too, I suppose.

The other news in Kaniac-land is that for the show, the producers made him cut his hair. You saw him in the blog I did about photoshop and yes, he’s wearing a hat (that was for the movie promo) but you can certainly tell that his hair is considerably shorter there, than it was, say, here (he’s the fourth picture down…just scroll). He actually cut his long hair toward the end of Leverage, I think I might have blogged about it here but I can’t find it. Anyway, he’s cut it again. Now he looks like this:

Yep, that’s the shortest his hair has been in about a decade. When Angel first began, his hair was that short, but he had started growing it out by the end.

Because I’m just making my own day, here’s a pic of him from the first season of Angel, in 2003, eleven years ago.

See, short hair? And that’s the CK I developed my crush on, but I always did have a thing for his long hair. At any rate, he’s handsome regardless of what his hair looks like. The point is. HE’S COMING BACK TO TV! Soon! And I’m so happy I could dance a jig. (And yeah, I used that as an excuse to talk about him and post pictures. That’s why I blog. To do whatever the hell I want.) My day: keeps getting better. Christian Kane: KEEPS GETTING BETTER

Photoshopping Delight

Do you remember how I told you I was learning to do a few things in Photoshop? I said it here in this post (which is protected so you’ll need the password to see it, email me if you’ve forgotten it) but if you can’t see it, basically I sat in on some Photoshop classes at work to try and learn how to use this software.

Well, earlier today, I emailed Elena a photo of Christian Kane that I found online (and my apologies to whomever took the photo, there was no photo credit..so if it is yours, it’s amazing and thanks). This photo:

Then I responded to her, saying, if only I could erase that woman from the photo, I’d probably wallpaper with it.

Literally as I was hitting send, I realized, that I, in fact, probably CAN erase that woman from the photo! So, I spent a few minutes trying to remember how, got the hang of it and:

CK Cowboy Hat

Voila! The exact same photo, minus the strange woman in the background. How amazing is that?!?! And man, oh, man, that could be my new favorite photo of him. Don’t be surprised if you see it in my house the next time you visit…

I just stumbled across this online.

It made me laugh because, well, I tend to wander through the world believing those words like gospel. And then it occurred to me…

Been there, done that.

I guess mine should say.

Funny Flirting Ecard: Been backstage. Met my husband. Now what?

Yeah, that’s a little more realistic. (not that there is any actual room for realism in this fantasy of mine, but here on the blog, I like to keep it real.)

Lent Letter #30

Dear Christian Kane,

Even though you are never going to read this and part of me thinks it is a wee bit loony to write to my celebrity crush, that’s the nice thing about having your own blog. No one to tell you no.

I think that it is pretty obvious how you’ve influenced my life. I’ve been mildly obsessed with you since 2003. Ten years. Ten solid years of being a true Kaniac. What is nice, for you, is that I’ve expanded your fan base, exponentially. My dad knows who you are. He knows you sing and that you were on Leverage. If you knew my dad, you’d know how amazing that is.

I’ve actually been missing you like crazy since Leverage ended. I know that sounds a little stalkery, but I’ve gotten accostumed to seeing you on my television. It was a little check with my favorite star. I’m sure that whatever you’re doing, you’re going to share it with the world me soon enough. I’m trying to be patient. But if you could land on a new show, or at least a movie, or put out a new album, or at least a new single (honestly, I’ve nearly worn out my mp3 of Dusty Rose). Just a little connection to your world would help.

Though it was kind of you to tweet that you’re getting started on some new music…just for my birthday. You’re thoughtful like that.

I’ll remain your true and faithful fan until you retire, even if it makes me a crazy old lady going to concerts, I’m gonna do it for you. Maybe one day you’ll even hug me again!

That was a highlight to this life of mine, hard to deny. I bleed Kaniac and always will. You keep me sane and help me be crazy. Your voice picks up even the worst of my days. Thanks for being the kinds of celebrity where I am proud to be your fan.

Thank you for being part of my life,

Olivia “#1 Kaniac”

Seven Hundred Sixty

Seven hundred and sixty-ONE days ago today, I met Christian Kane. This was a major milestone. He winked at me. He HUGGED me. He gifted me with this fine photograph.

Surely you all recognize it. I even wrote a blog about how this photo has taken over my life. The most prevalent usage of this picture was as the wallpaper on my cellphone.

Since the day I downloaded the picture off the internet, I made it the front wallpaper on my iPhone. It has never changed. Not once. Not for holidays, not for anything.

Until now. At 11:00 am this morning, I finally changed my wallpaper. I figured it would have to be a pretty precipitous event to shake the foundation of Christian Kane love I’ve got happening.

Well, turns out, I’ve finally got a new love.

This is my new wallpaper. And my new love.
