A Little Bit Warmer

I think the weather is now just a little bit warmer, the sun is just a little bit brighter and spring is just a little bit closer, all because as of just over an hour ago, a brand new baby came into this world.

Congratulations Carrie, Matt and Hayden, on your new beautiful baby girl, Kinsley Mae.

She shares her birthday with another special friend of mine, and, as he and I have already determined, today is a very good day.

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Today’s quote is brought to you by our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. If he were still alive, he’d be 204 years old. Even more significantly, he now shares his birthday with my nephew.

Welcome to the world, Camden Nicholas. Weighing in at 8lbs 2 oz. and 19 3/4 inches long. He’s surprisingly little for being 10 days overdue. He has a whole head of dark hair, and I mean a whole head. He has a crazy amount of hair. He’s got dark blue eyes and is wonderfully perfect.

So far, he is surprisingly calm and content. He was wide awake the first three hours of his life, barely crying, just wanting to be near his mommy. His big sister, Arionna, just loves the holy heck out of him. She’s been squealing around, singing, “I’m a big sister! I’m a big sister!”

There’s MY baby sister, with her two babies.

That was the very first time Arionna kissed her baby brother.

He took his sweet time deciding to come out, but his entry into this world was short, sweet, and easy. Just a few pushes and he slipped into the world without a sound. It’s incredible how fast the world can change. This morning, it was without this new little life and then, at 11:24 am, everything was different.

Emily is doing amazingly well. After struggling so much to get into labor (three different days she was induced) she was rewarded with the easiest labor in history. At 11 am, they checked her cervix and she was fully dilated, they had her do a practice push about five minutes later. Less than 20 minutes later, after only five pushes, Camden slipped into our lives and our hearts.

I was lucky enough to be there, to see his head as he started to crown, to watch his head squeeze out and then, just a breath later, he was here. A beautiful baby boy.

In case you haven’t been paying attention, I’ve not been blogging much lately; that’s because I was rapidly approaching my 500th post here on WordPress and I was saving that milestone for this one.

This, my 500th post, is the perfect place and time to welcome my new nephew into this world.

Happy birthday Camden (and to you, too, Honest Abe)! It’s really incredible how much I can already love you.

Three Years

Three years ago, on Christmas day, 2009, I took this photo.

My sister was pregnant with Arionna. We did not yet know if the baby was a boy or a girl. We were just so excited to welcome that little baby into our family.

This year, on Christmas day 2012, I took this photo.

My sister, pregnant with her second child, a little boy. Knowing he’s a boy, knowing his name is Camden, knowing so much more than we did back then does not lessen the excitement in the least.

Three years ago, my sister’s family looked like this:

Today, my sister’s family looks like this:

We’re all so excited for this new addition to our family. As for me, I’m pleased my sister was kind enough to be pregnant at the same time of the year, just to appease my addiction to symmetry.

Just three more weeks to go until Camden’s official due date, however, he could come literally at any time. I get so excited to think of that call…

Baby Pool, 2nd Edition

Well, if you read the previous post, you know I set up a pool to guess the baby stats for my sister.

I also set up a pool for my Kelly Jo. She’s due about six weeks after Emily, so it’ll be baby Heaven for me!

Kelly and Mark have already decided the name of the baby, but they did not find out the gender. The baby is said to be due on March 24. I’ve already entered my guesses, but be sure to stop by the pool and make yours.

If you want to play, follow this link.

Results will be tabulated after the baby is born and we will have a winner, the very best baby guesser.

Good luck!

Baby Pool

Do you remember when my sister was pregnant for the first time?

It was three years ago, for me it was like six jobs ago, and I was blogging on a different site. Back then, I started a pool to guess about the upcoming baby. (If you click that link, you can see the guesses from the original pool).

Well, it’s that time again.

Baby #2 is well on his way. If you’d like to participate, please follow this link.  A couple pieces of information. It is a boy, so there isn’t a gender to guess. Also, his predicted due date is February 4, if that helps you guess.

And, to compare, Arionna was nine days overdue. She was 9lbs, even. She was 21″ long with brown hair and blue eyes. Maybe that helps you, maybe it doesn’t. No one knows.

I’ve already entered my guesses. The pool, for those who don’t remember, does score the guesses, so once baby boy arrives, we will tabulate a winner.

Good luck and we can’t wait to meet him!

Will it be PINK or BLUE?

Emily and Chad decided to find out the gender of Baby Lentil Bean. The ultrasound was yesterday.

Here’s the money shot:

Yes, believe it or not, that shows the gender. I KNOW the gender and I still can’t tell what it is. Clearly, I’m no ultrasound tech.

But, they did write the magic word on a piece of paper for Arionna to open.

Yes, that’s right…..

It’s a little boy blue!

Come the beginning of February, I’ll have another nephew to cuddle. Emily and Chad are over the moon, it’s awesome to have one of each.

Here’s another shot of the little guy.

You can see his arm up over his head and his mouth is open. I think he’s actually saying hi to his favorite Auntie Livi!

Congrats to the family. Arionna still needs to adjust, but we’ll get her on board. No matter how many times we tell her, she still insists it’s a sister. She’s in for a rude awakening when this little guy comes out.

Can’t wait to meet you, little boy!
